Last week we got a call from a sweet lady named Jewel. Jewel is from Baton Rouge Louisiana, about 8 hours from our shop here in Dallas. A popular You-Tube show had the Vice President of Optimum Coatings, maker of Opti-Coat Pro Plus, installing the new Opti-Coat Pro Plus on his car. Well she was so impressed with what she saw that she started researching how and where she could get her car coated. After looking around locally she decided that she would travel to Dallas and spend the night at a hotel while we had her car here at the shop.

What’s even more interesting is that she wasn’t bringing us a Ferrari or a Benz or a Bentley, she was bringing a daily driver 2018 Honda CRV. Proving that you don’t have to be a millionaire to see the value in installing a permanent coating on your paint!

Needless to say we were truly honored that someone would travel that far just to have Flawless Detail install this coating instead of someone closer to her. But also the fact that this sweet lady saw value in a product that traditional thinking would be only for the most expensive luxurious cars. In fact after seeing her last vehicle, a mint condition 1998 BMW with immaculate 20 year old paint, that she maintained herself with weekly hand washes and wax. We became convinced that the daily driver is honestly going to get the best value from this ceramic coating. Simply put a Honda CRV will get more mileage than a Ferrari in its life and the Pro Plus will actually protect from countless hazards that the Ferrari would be sitting in the garage for.

After an ONR, Optimum No Rinse, the most advanced way to wash your car, we had to do some mild decontamination and bug and Tar removal using TAR and Ferrex. After pulling the car into our install room we clayed the paint with Optimum Clay mitt and finished with Hyper Polish for a silky smooth to the touch finish. As with all ceramic coating installs there is a step that is uber important, paint prep. Each brand has their own and Optimum Paint Prep is no different, Specifically designed to help the Opti Pro Plus bond with the paint.

Opti-Coat Pro and Pro Plus are an interesting couple. The Pro coating is actually a standalone product as is and will come with a 7 year warranty. The Pro Plus is actually installed right after the Pro and works with the Pro formula to create an even harder and more glossy clearcoat layer that is actually in the paint not sitting on top like most coatings. OptiCoat cannot be layered and there’s no need to the formula is cross-linked and cannot be removed by anything other than severe friction from a sander.
